It’s that time of year again, folks. Halloween! As a kid, Halloween is the best holiday second only to Christmas. But I mean come on, who doesn’t love pretending to be someone else for a day? it’s the one day a year where you can literally be anyone you want to be besides yourself. Kids run around the town on a rampage for free candy. Ringing every doorbell and yelling trick or treat just waiting for an adult to drop hand fulls of candy into a bag before they mutter thanks and take off in a dead sprint to the next house to repeat the process.
As a college kid, I love handing candy out to kids. Granted, I am still a huge kid, but I love carving pumpkins and decorating for the holidays and seeing all of the adorable little babies dressed as duckies and pumpkins and all those other costumes that just don’t look as cute on anyone over the age of 4 or 5.
My favorite part is definitely decorating the house though. Now I use some ghosts and witches here and there but for the most part I focus on pumpkins and the fall colors of orange, red, and yellow. These colors are the epitome of fall. All of the leafs change to these colors due to the lack of chlorophyll in their systems *Ya. I paid attention in Biology*.
Since I don’t paint my walls with every changing season or switch out my crazy heavy couch, I typically decorate by changing curtains and rugs. If you use neutral colors in your constant furniture, it is easier to switch out things like curtains and rugs to change the look of a room in a simple way.
The best part about decorating this way for Halloween is that the colors transfer over seamlessly to November and Thanksgiving. Get a simple, classic orange rug and you’ll be able to reuse it year after year!

I love outdoor chill spots. Summer evenings come and go. I’ve been a student my whole life, it’s the only thing I know. Complete nine arduous months of continuous education and then two and a half glorious months of total freedom. Now, what I do with those summer nights has evolved throughout my life, but there’s always the common thread of just sitting outside when the sun is going down and breathing the air. When the pale blue of the afternoon gives way to the rich amber and pink so familiar to Kansas skies it is time to gather a friend or a cool beverage and retreat to the backyard. Honestly, I woke up feeling sick as a dog, pessimistic about the course of my day and angry that I was wasting time laying in bed.

But this is what I’m going to get to enjoy tonight. And that makes everything worthwhile. What do you love about summer?
And to bring that calm and relaxed vibe the sunset gives me, I could always get a rug with similar colors!

This is an Oriental Weavers Andy Warhol Factory 14113 Horizon in red orange. The abstracted suns create an interesting juxtaposition. The sun rises and falls, broken and distorted by the landscape. Nice!

Jaipur Midtown Raymond Curled Up in dark amber gold reminds me of those amber waves. They had it so right in that song, driving out in the country you will see endless miles of grains in rich, warm colors. This rug is reminiscent of the sensation of those wheat stalks being whipped by the low Kansas wind.

The Magnolia looks like the wind pulled some flowers off their stems and sent them careening toward the sky.
Also, a great sunset song!
Happy Veteran’s Day to all the Veteran’s out there. Your bravery to protect our country is always comforting and you don’t get thanked enough. Today’s post will highlight some adorable patriotic houses.
New England at it’s finest.
Chic and patriotic
It is also Remembrance day in England for those who lost their lives in WWI. “In flanders field the poppies grow….”

For you who don’t know this is Beyonce:

Beyonce is a metal rooster that belongs to The Bloggess, which if you don’t read her blog your life is not complete.
Anyway, Beyonce has inspired many peoples works of art and yards, and apparently has also inspired many rug designers. Below are some amazing tributes to this amazing metal rooster.
Not bad to start with…the French accents are a nice touch.
Also, not bad. I can see this in a country kitchen. It’s kitchy without being to much.
This one is my favorites of the Beyone tribute. The sunflowers and the color are amazing.
I can actually see this guy as wall art in someones kitchen! At least that is what I would do with it.
This is my favorite of all the rugs. I love the french vintage posters that are the inspiration. I really want this one for my kitchen.
Did you fall in love with any of these rugs? They are all available on our website, www.plushrugs.com and clicking on the image will take to the page where they are found! Have a great day!
